Two Terrorists Killed in Kupwara LoC Firefight
Late Monday night, heavy firing and multiple blasts were reported from the Machil and Dudniyal sectors along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district. According to Army officials, the gunfire began when troops noticed suspicious movement close to the border fence.
Infiltration Attempt Foiled
When the suspected infiltrators were challenged, they opened fire on security forces, triggering a fierce exchange. In the encounter, two terrorists were killed. The Army used flare shells to light up the area to track possible further infiltration attempts. Explosions were also heard during the exchange, believed to be grenades or improvised devices used by the militants.
Ongoing Operations
Security forces have cordoned off the sector and launched a search and combing operation to rule out the presence of more infiltrators. The incident has raised alert levels across Kupwara, with additional forces deployed to secure sensitive stretches along the LoC.
