TVK’s Vijay Launches Statewide Campaign From Trichy

Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay will officially begin a statewide voter outreach starting September 13, 2025, with the campaign’s launch event scheduled in Trichy (Tiruchy). The tour is set to span several months and cover numerous districts across Tamil Nadu, mostly on weekends.

Venue And Permissions

Vijay had proposed hosting the opening rally at the Chathiram bus stand, but the Trichy city police denied permission due to traffic concerns. TVK general secretary Bussy Anand sought alternative venues—including Marakkadai near Gandhi Market—and is in discussions with authorities for approval.

Organizational Momentum

Previously, TVK held organizational consultations involving over 20 district secretaries and 56 constituency in-charges to gear up for Vijay’s tour. Party leadership emphasized strengthening grassroots efforts ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections, including appointing union secretaries for every 25,000 voters.

Legal Challenges

Before the campaign could begin, Bussy Anand and five others were booked by Trichy police for causing public obstruction during his visit on September 6. The complaint cited unlawful assembly and obstruction of public duties, stemming from traffic disruptions caused by parked TVK vehicles. TVK has condemned the police action and indicated legal recourse.
