
Turkish Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Kolkata
A Turkish Airlines passenger aircraft made an emergency landing at Kolkata airport on Wednesday after a warning of a fire in its right engine, officials said.
Engine Fire Alert After Takeoff of Turkish Airlines
The aircraft, flying from Kathmandu to Istanbul, was carrying 236 passengers and crew members. Shortly after departure, the cockpit crew received an indication of a possible fire in the right engine and informed air traffic control. As a precautionary measure, the pilots decided to divert the flight to Kolkata.
Safe Landing, No Injuries
The aircraft landed safely at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport with emergency services on standby. All passengers and crew disembarked without any injuries. Airport officials said standard emergency procedures were followed and the situation was brought under control quickly.
Turkish Aircraft Under Inspection
The aircraft has been grounded for technical inspection to determine the cause of the engine alert. Turkish Airlines is expected to make alternate arrangements for passengers after the assessment is completed.
Airport authorities said there was no disruption to other flight operations following the incident.
