Trump’s Strike Decision Nears as U.S. Shifts Bombers East
The United States has begun relocating B-2 Spirit stealth bombers to the Pacific island of Guam, signaling increased military readiness as President Donald Trump evaluates a possible direct strike on Iran. The move comes amid rapidly intensifying conflict between Israel and Iran, raising fears of broader escalation.
B-2 Bombers Positioned for Long-Range Strike
Several B-2 bombers have reportedly departed from Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri and are en route to Andersen Air Force Base in Guam. The B-2, one of the most advanced long-range bombers in the U.S. arsenal, is capable of carrying Massive Ordnance Penetrators (MOPs)—highly specialized bunker-buster bombs designed to target fortified underground facilities, including suspected nuclear sites such as Iran’s Fordow enrichment complex.
This redeployment marks one of the clearest signs yet that Washington is preparing for a potential intervention, even if no final decision has yet been made.
Trump Holds Off on Immediate Action
President Trump has reportedly been briefed on several military options, including limited surgical strikes on Iranian nuclear assets and command infrastructure. However, he has so far withheld formal authorization, stating that a decision will be made within the next two weeks, depending on Iran’s actions and the status of diplomatic efforts.
Officials within the National Security Council are said to be closely monitoring the situation, as backchannel communications via Oman and European intermediaries attempt to de-escalate tensions.
Wider U.S. Military Buildup
In parallel with the B-2 deployment, the U.S. has moved refueling aircraft, F-22 Raptor fighter jets, and missile defense-capable warships into forward positions across the Middle East and parts of Europe. These moves are part of a larger contingency plan to defend allied assets and deter further Iranian retaliation against Israeli and possibly American interests.
While the Pentagon has stressed that these deployments are precautionary, the message is unmistakable: the United States is poised to strike if diplomatic avenues collapse or if Iran crosses certain red lines—particularly in its nuclear pursuits.
