Trump Urges Calm After India’s Operation Sindoor Strikes

As India carried out a series of missile strikes under the banner of Operation Sindoor targeting terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, U.S. President Donald Trump has weighed in on the rising tensions, calling the conflict “a shame” and urging both nations to pull back from the brink.

“It’s a shame, we just heard about it just as we were walking in the doors of the Oval. I guess people knew something was going to happen based on a little bit of the past,” said Trump, when asked about the developments following India’s operation.

Operation Sindoor was launched in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack which killed 26 civilians. India has maintained that the strikes were focused and restrained, targeting only terrorist infrastructure without escalating to full-scale war. The decision, monitored at the highest levels of Indian government, was presented as a message against impunity for cross-border terrorism.

Trump, commenting further on the historical backdrop of the conflict, stated, “They’ve been fighting for a long time. They’ve been fighting for many, many decades and centuries, actually, if you really think about it.”

When pressed on what message he had for both countries, Trump said plainly, “No, I just hope it ends very quickly.”

Diplomatic Channels Open Amid Global Concerns

In the immediate aftermath of the operation, India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval reached out to his U.S. counterpart and Secretary of State Marco Rubio to explain the scope and intent of the strikes. The U.S. State Department has acknowledged awareness of the developments but refrained from passing judgment, noting that the situation is fluid and still unfolding.

The international community, including the United Nations and key global stakeholders, has voiced concern over the growing military confrontation between India and Pakistan. With both nations armed with nuclear weapons, calls for restraint have intensified, as observers warn of the high stakes involved.

While India frames Operation Sindoor as a precise anti-terror operation, Pakistan has condemned it as an act of aggression and vowed to retaliate. As tensions simmer, world leaders are pushing both countries toward dialogue to avoid a wider conflict.
