Trump Unveils 20-Point Gaza Peace Plan
U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced a 20-point peace proposal aimed at ending the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza. The announcement was made at the White House after talks between the two leaders.
Key Provisions of the Plan
Under the proposal, if both sides accept, hostilities would cease immediately. Israeli military operations would pause, and forces would withdraw partly to agreed positions while hostages are released within 72 hours. In return, Israel would free up to 250 Palestinians serving life sentences and 1,700 others detained since the conflict began.
Amnesty and Governance of Gaza
Hamas members who agree to disarm and live peacefully would receive amnesty; those wanting to leave Gaza would be allowed safe passage elsewhere. The plan stipulates that no one would be forced to leave Gaza. Hamas would be barred from participating in governance, and Gaza would instead be run by a temporary, technocratic Palestinian body under the supervision of a new “Board of Peace” chaired by Trump, including international figures like Tony Blair.
Responses to the Proposal
Israel has expressed support for the plan, but Hamas has not agreed. Trump threatened full backing to Israel to “finish the job” if Hamas rejects the proposal.
Regional Reactions
Separately, the United Arab Emirates urged Israel to back the plan and warned that any attempt to annex the West Bank would jeopardize Israel’s ties with Arab nations.
