Trump: Ukraine War Not Easy; Putin ‘Let Me Down’
U.S. President Donald Trump has said he believed the Russia-Ukraine war would be “one of the easiest” conflicts to resolve, because of his relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He added, however, that he now feels Putin has “let me down.”

Speaking alongside UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer at Chequers, Trump said that despite his earlier confidence, resolving the war had proven far more difficult than he expected. He reiterated his intention to still work toward a solution but acknowledged, “you never know in war.”
On Casualties and Peace Prospects
Trump also claimed that Russian soldiers are being killed at a higher rate than Ukrainian soldiers. He emphasized that despite the setbacks, he remains committed to securing peace. Further, he suggested that Europe stopping its purchase of Russian oil could be a factor in pushing Russia toward negotiations.
