Trump Threatens Iran After Missile Attack
US President Donald Trump has threatened a powerful military response against Iran after Tehran launched ballistic missiles towards American forces stationed in Jordan. The US military said the missiles were intercepted and no casualties were immediately reported.
Trump Threatens Heavy Retaliation Against Iran
Trump described the missile barrage as an attempted surprise attack and said American troops had only a few minutes to respond before the weapons reached the targeted base.
Speaking during a telephone interview, Trump used strong language to warn that Iran would face a severe military response. He said the United States would strike Iran hard and suggested further operations were already being prepared.
Iranian Missiles Target US Forces in Jordan
Iran launched multiple ballistic missiles towards a US military installation in Jordan on Tuesday. The attack marked Tehran’s first ballistic missile operation against an American base since Washington paused strikes to allow diplomatic efforts to continue.
US Central Command said air-defence systems successfully intercepted the incoming missiles. The attack nevertheless raised concerns that the brief pause in hostilities had collapsed.
US Launches Fresh Strikes on Iran
The United States subsequently carried out a two-hour wave of airstrikes against dozens of Iranian military targets.
The operation targeted Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps command centres, missile and drone facilities, coastal surveillance systems and maritime defence infrastructure.
The latest exchange has weakened hopes of an immediate diplomatic breakthrough between Washington and Tehran. Regional mediators have continued pushing both sides towards negotiations, but repeated military attacks have increased the risk of a wider conflict.
The escalation has also heightened concerns over global energy supplies and commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
