Trump Says US May Take Over Cuba

US President Donald Trump has said the United States could take over Cuba “almost immediately,” making another sharp statement as Washington increases pressure on Havana through fresh sanctions and economic restrictions.

Trump Statement On Cuba

Trump’s remarks come amid a tougher US policy toward Cuba, with his administration targeting sectors linked to the Cuban government. The statement has added to tensions between Washington and Havana at a time when Cuba is already facing a deep economic crisis.

Cuba has strongly rejected US pressure and accused Washington of using sanctions to punish the Cuban people.

US Sanctions Against Cuba

The latest US measures focus on individuals and entities connected to key areas of Cuba’s economy, including energy, defence, mining and finance. The sanctions are aimed at increasing pressure on the Cuban government and restricting its access to international financial networks.

Washington has also sought to target foreign banks and companies that help sanctioned Cuban-linked entities conduct major transactions.

Cuba Rejects US Pressure

Cuban leaders have condemned the sanctions and said the country will defend its sovereignty. President Miguel Díaz-Canel and senior Cuban officials have framed the US measures as an attack on Cuba’s political system and economy.

The comments have further raised concerns about US-Cuba relations, especially as Washington signals a more aggressive posture toward Havana.
