Trump Says His Health Is “Perfect” Amid Ageing Scrutiny
U.S. President Donald Trump, who is 79 years old and currently the oldest serving president in American history, has insisted that his health is “perfect,” rejecting public and media speculation about his physical condition. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Trump said recent discussions about his fitness and ageing are overblown and inaccurate.
Trump addresses specific health questions
During the interview, Trump clarified that a medical imaging scan he had in October was a CT scan, not an MRI as previously discussed, and said the results showed no significant health problems. He also addressed visible bruising and hand marks that had drawn attention, attributing them to his long-term habit of taking a higher dose of aspirin than doctors recommend to maintain what he called “thin blood.” Trump acknowledged this can cause easy bruising but said it is not a sign of illness.
Trump denied claims that he has dozed off during official meetings or has trouble hearing, saying some photos and reports misinterpret ordinary moments.
Fitness, routine and lifestyle
Trump, who acknowledges he does not follow a structured exercise routine beyond playing golf and walking, said he often works long hours and maintains a busy schedule. He credited his continued energy and durability to “good genetics,” and said he has “never felt better” despite his age. The president rejected suggestions that ageing has diminished his capacity to perform his duties.
Continued public debate
Concerns about Trump’s health have grown in recent years, partly because of his age and public appearances that some observers have scrutinised. Supporters and White House officials have maintained that he remains capable of fulfilling presidential responsibilities. Despite differing opinions in public discourse, Trump’s own account stresses that his health is strong and fully sufficient for his role as president.
