Trump Rebukes Netanyahu on Gaza Starvation Crisis
U.S. President Donald Trump has sharply criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s claims that there is no starvation in Gaza. Speaking during his visit to Scotland, Trump said images from the region clearly show starving children and emphasized that “real starvation” is taking place.
He added, “Those children look very hungry. You can’t fake that,” highlighting the severity of the humanitarian crisis. Trump called on Israel to take a different approach, urging Prime Minister Netanyahu to reconsider current military tactics to avoid worsening the situation.
Trump Promises Aid and New Food Centres
The U.S. has pledged $60 million in food aid to Gaza, and Trump announced plans to work with European countries to set up food centres that will operate without boundaries or restrictions. He said the goal is to ensure civilians can get immediate access to basic necessities, especially children suffering from hunger and disease.
According to medical reports from Gaza, at least 14 people—including children—have died in the past 24 hours due to malnutrition. The overall death toll from starvation-related causes has now crossed 140 since late 2023, with aid blockages and limited access to supplies worsening the crisis.
Starmer Joins Global Concern
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who met Trump during the visit, called the situation in Gaza “an absolute catastrophe.” He called for urgent ceasefire efforts and insisted on creating safe corridors for humanitarian aid. Starmer reiterated the need for an immediate response from both Israel and the global community.
Trump Presses for Ceasefire and Hostage Release
While backing Israel’s right to defend itself, Trump also criticized the slow pace of hostage negotiations. He said that a ceasefire is possible but stressed that it must come with commitments to allow aid and save lives. Trump said the U.S. would keep pressing both sides to move towards a peaceful solution while continuing to address the urgent humanitarian needs on the ground.
