Trump Disagrees with Starmer on Palestine Recognition

U.S. President Donald Trump has said he disagrees with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer over the UK’s plans to recognise a Palestinian state. He described the issue as one of the few points where they differ during his state visit to the UK.

Shared Goals Despite Differences

Both leaders, however, expressed agreement on the need for peace in the Middle East, particularly in Gaza. Starmer said the timing of any recognition decision is a matter for his government and not tied to Trump’s visit.

Starmer’s Position on Timing

Starmer reiterated that he had made his position on recognising a Palestinian state clear back in July. He said any formal recognition would be part of a broader peace strategy rather than a gesture timed around diplomatic events.
