Trump Becomes First Living President on US Coin
Donald Trump has become the first living US president in around a century to appear on American currency after the US Mint released a special $1 coin marking the 250th anniversary of the United States.

The commemorative coin features Trump’s portrait alongside the words “IN GOD WE TRUST” and was launched as part of celebrations marking 250 years since American independence.
The US Mint said the design was intended to reflect the country’s history and the significance of the anniversary.
The release marks a rare departure from the traditional practice of placing deceased presidents and other historic figures on US currency.
Trump Coins Sell Out Within Hours
Demand for the new coin appeared strong immediately after its release.
A roll containing 25 coins was priced at $61, while a bag containing 100 coins was offered for $154.50.
Within hours of going on sale, both products were listed as “not currently in stock” on the US Mint’s website.
The coins have also been made available through vending machines at the US Mint store in Washington DC.
Gold-Coloured Coin Contains No Gold
Despite its golden appearance, the commemorative dollar does not contain any actual gold.
According to the US Mint’s specifications, the coin is made primarily from copper, which accounts for 88.5% of its composition. The remaining material consists of zinc, manganese and nickel.
The Trump coin forms part of wider commemorative releases linked to America’s 250th anniversary celebrations, which are expected to feature prominently across the country during 2026.
Its rapid initial sell-out also indicates strong interest among collectors seeking limited-edition US Mint releases associated with the anniversary.
