Trump Announces White House Ballroom Project Worth $300 Million

U.S. President Donald Trump has unveiled plans for a $300 million project to build what he described as the “most beautiful ballroom in the world” as part of renovations at the White House. The expansion is proposed for the East Wing and is among the largest additions to the presidential residence in over a century.

Ballroom Capacity and Design

According to Trump, the ballroom will cover nearly 90,000 square feet and host up to 900 guests. He said the project would be privately funded through his own contributions and outside donations, adding that it would not disturb the historic core of the White House.

Funding and Approval Questions

While Trump praised the project as a symbol of elegance, critics have raised concerns about funding transparency and the appropriateness of such a lavish expansion at the presidential residence. Heritage groups are also reviewing whether the design aligns with preservation standards.

Completion Timeline

The ballroom is targeted for completion before the end of Trump’s current term in January 2029, although final approval from planning and architectural authorities is still required.
