Trump Announces CapeWeek Air Show for 2028
US President Donald Trump has announced plans for CapeWeek, a new international aerospace and aviation exhibition scheduled to begin in Florida in 2028. Speaking at the Kennedy Space Center on Friday, November 6, Trump said the event would become the world’s largest air show, surpassing established exhibitions in Europe and the Middle East.
CapeWeek 2028 to Be Hosted at Kennedy Space Center
Trump and NASA outlined plans to organise CapeWeek at the Kennedy Space Center, bringing together aircraft manufacturers, space technology companies, investors and industry executives.
The proposed exhibition will showcase commercial aviation, spacecraft and emerging aerospace technologies while attracting international business and investment.
Trump said the former space shuttle landing facility would be transformed into a 1,900-acre exhibition venue capable of welcoming hundreds of thousands of visitors annually.
He projected billions of dollars in economic activity and substantial commercial agreements, although these figures remain government projections.
Trump Wants US Air Show to Surpass Paris and Dubai
Trump said the United States should host the largest aerospace exhibition because of its position in the global aviation and space industries.
CapeWeek is intended to compete with established international events, including the Paris Air Show, Farnborough International Airshow in Britain and Dubai Airshow.
These exhibitions regularly attract aircraft manufacturers, defence companies, government representatives and aviation executives from around the world.
US Aerospace Strategy Targets Global Investment
The announcement follows a September initiative in which the White House encouraged American space companies to avoid a major international space summit in Paris organised by French President Emmanuel Macron.
The proposed CapeWeek exhibition reflects Washington’s effort to attract more international aerospace business to American soil.
Trump indicated that major manufacturers, including Boeing, would be expected to participate in the event.
Further details concerning exhibitors, commercial arrangements and the final exhibition programme have yet to be announced.
