TN CM Stalin Accuses BJP of Using ECI for Poll Rigging
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has levelled strong accusations against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), alleging that it has turned the Election Commission of India (ECI) into a “poll-rigging machinery.” He claimed that the incidents being reported are not random errors but part of a deliberate and organised attempt to influence election outcomes.
Reference to Mahadevapura Case
Citing the alleged voter fraud in Mahadevapura, Stalin said this was a clear example of how electoral rolls could be manipulated to benefit the ruling party. He argued that such actions not only distort the mandate of the people but also erode trust in democratic institutions. According to him, these were not isolated cases but signs of a larger strategy to compromise electoral integrity.
Support for INDIA Bloc Protest
Stalin expressed solidarity with the protest march led by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi from Parliament to the ECI headquarters. Organised by the INDIA bloc, the demonstration sought to draw national attention to allegations of voter roll tampering and to press for stronger safeguards.
Warning on Democratic Impact
Highlighting the broader implications, Stalin warned that weakening the independence of the ECI would damage the very foundations of India’s democracy. He urged citizens to remain vigilant and resist attempts to manipulate elections, stressing that a healthy democracy can only function when the will of the people is reflected honestly in the results.
