Tharoor Addresses Congress Differences At Lit Fest
Congress MP Shashi Tharoor addressed reports of differences with party leadership while speaking at the Kerala Literature Festival in Kozhikode. He said he had not broken the party line and rejected claims of a public rift, stressing that internal disagreements should not be exaggerated.
On Party Discipline And Debate
Tharoor said he had expressed a difference of opinion only once in principle and remained unapologetic about that stand, adding that debate within a party is part of a healthy democracy. He made it clear that he did not use the literature festival platform to criticise the Congress leadership or air internal matters.
Skipping Congress Meeting Explained
Responding to questions about missing a recent Congress meeting in Kerala, Tharoor said his absence was due to a prior commitment to the festival and that party leaders had been informed in advance. He reiterated that any concerns would be discussed internally with the leadership rather than through public forums.
