Security Forces Surround Militant Hideout

The gunbattle began when security forces, acting on intelligence regarding the presence of militants in the area, cordoned off sections of Khanyar. Senior police officials said the operation was a response to credible information suggesting that armed militants were hiding in the vicinity. As the security forces closed in, a fierce exchange of fire ensued.

Identification of Deceased Terrorist Pending

While the terrorist was confirmed to be neutralized, his identity has not yet been established. According to officials, his body remains near the encounter site, partially buried under debris. A senior police officer told news agency GNS, “The identity of the killed terrorist is yet to be ascertained.”

The Khanyar encounter is the latest in a series of operations by security forces in Jammu and Kashmir aimed at curbing militant activities. The region has witnessed heightened security operations as authorities continue to tackle insurgency threats. The situation remains tense as additional forces have been deployed to maintain order and ensure the area is secure.
