Terror Module Busted in Delhi, 2 Arrested

A terror module inspired by the Islamic State (ISIS) has been dismantled by the Delhi Police, resulting in the arrest of two operatives who were allegedly planning a large-scale improvised explosive device (IED) blast in the national capital.

Major Threat Averted

The arrests were made after coordinated operations across Delhi and Madhya Pradesh. One suspect was taken into custody in South Delhi while the other was arrested in Madhya Pradesh. Investigation so far indicates the module was plotting a suicide bombing rather than a simple IED attack.

Ideological and External Links

Police sources suggest the cell drew ideological motivation from the Islamic State but operated locally. There is no verified public link to any external intelligence agency at this stage, despite earlier media reports suggesting Pakistan’s involvement. Further questioning is ongoing to establish the full network and logistics.

Next Steps in Investigation

Officials said the Special Cell is tracing the source of materials, funding mechanisms and any overseas connections. Authorities emphasised that capturing the suspects early prevented what could have been a major terror incident in Delhi. Security has been heightened across sensitive zones in the city following the disclosure.
