Terror Hideout Busted in Poonch After Pahalgam Attack

In a high-stakes counter-terrorism operation, Indian security forces uncovered a militant hideout in the Surankote area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, just days after the horrific massacre in Pahalgam. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, personnel from the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Special Operations Group discovered a hidden cache of weapons and explosives intended for terror activities.

“Terrorist hideout was busted in the forest area of Bachian Wali in the Surankote subdivision of the border district of Poonch and five Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) were recovered.”

Pahalgam Massacre Aftermath

The bust comes amid an ongoing crackdown following the Pahalgam killings that left 26 civilians dead in one of the worst terror attacks in recent memory. Security officials believe the recovery in Poonch may be connected to the same terror infrastructure responsible for that massacre.

The five IEDs found in the hideout were ingeniously concealed in domestic containers, with two placed in steel buckets and three others in tiffin boxes. These devices varied in explosive content from half a kilogram to five kilograms, designed to inflict maximum casualties in crowded public areas. All explosives were safely neutralized on site by bomb disposal squads.

“Two wireless sets and three blankets were also seized from the hideout.”

Terror Hideout in Jammu and Kashmir

This operation is part of a broader and intensified security sweep across Jammu and Kashmir, where over 2,000 suspects have been detained and multiple raids have been launched to disrupt the operational networks of terrorist groups. Investigative agencies suspect involvement of Pakistan-based handlers and are currently exploring possible links to groups operating out of Pakistan-occupied territories.

“Terrorists had stored explosives in tiffin boxes and steel containers and had kept them in natural hideouts in the forests.”

Improvised Explosive Devices Recovered

The Pahalgam tragedy has also pushed the government to take sharp diplomatic and military measures. These include actions at the Line of Control, suspension of water-sharing mechanisms, and a hardening of India’s internal security grid to prevent further terror incidents.

The Poonch hideout bust adds to the growing evidence of active sleeper cells and logistical networks still operating in Jammu and Kashmir. It reflects the continuous vigilance and relentless pursuit by Indian security forces to prevent further bloodshed and ensure the safety of civilians.
