Telangana CM to Develop OU to Stanford-Oxford Standards

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy vowed to elevate Osmania University (OU) to global standards, equating it with prestigious institutions like Stanford and Oxford. He made the announcement during his first visit to the OU campus in 20 years, where he inaugurated two new hostels—Dhundubhi and Bhima—built at a combined cost of ₹90 crore. He also laid the foundation for a modern digital library and reading facility.

Major Funding and Planning Moves

Revanth committed ₹1,000 crore toward the university’s development, emphasizing that with a state budget scale of ₹3 lakh crore, the investment is both feasible and vital. He directed the formation of an engineering committee to outline precise infrastructure and academic needs. The intent is for OU to reclaim its esteemed legacy and inspire similar institutions across the state.

Restoring Legacy and Encouraging Expression

Positioning OU as central to Telangana’s heritage, the CM stated that the institution and the state are “inseparable twins,” citing its historic role in movements and scholarship. He encouraged transparency, saying he would return to OU in December without police presence, allowing students to voice opinions freely. He reaffirmed his administration’s readiness to address student grievances directly.
