Telangana Begins Dealer Registration for New Vehicles
The Telangana Transport Department has rolled out a dealer-level registration system for new vehicles, allowing buyers to complete permanent registration directly at authorised showrooms. The facility applies to new private cars and two-wheelers purchased in the state.
How registration will work
Under the new process, vehicle dealers will submit registration applications online on behalf of buyers. Required documents such as sale invoice, insurance details, roadworthiness certificates and address proof will be uploaded digitally. Once verified by transport authorities, a registration number will be allotted and the Registration Certificate will be dispatched to the owner.
Reduced RTO visits
With the dealer registration system in place, vehicle owners will no longer need to visit Regional Transport Offices for permanent registration. Officials said the move is aimed at reducing congestion at RTOs, cutting waiting times and simplifying the overall registration process.
Scope and exclusions
The facility is currently limited to non-commercial vehicles. Transport and commercial vehicles will continue to follow the existing registration procedure through RTOs. Authorities said further expansion of the system may be considered based on its performance.
