Tejashwi Yadav hints at Muslim Deputy CM in Bihar
Tejashwi Yadav, the chief ministerial candidate of the opposition India bloc in Bihar, has indicated that if his alliance comes to power, it may appoint a Muslim Deputy Chief Minister for the state. In an exclusive interview, he said the decision will reflect “people’s trust” and represent all communities.
Criticism of the NDA Government
Yadav also launched a critique of the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government in Bihar, saying that the people of the state “do not trust” the government shaped by Nitish Kumar and its allies. He accused the government of failing to deliver on jobs, industry and social justice.
Context for the Bihar Polls
The remarks come against the backdrop of the upcoming 2025 Bihar assembly elections, where caste and community representation are key themes. Yadav’s suggestion of a Muslim Deputy CM is a clear signalling to minority voters ahead of the campaign. Analysts say it may reshape alliances and voter expectations. Meanwhile, parties allied with the NDA are weighing their own leadership options and community outreach strategies.
