Tata Motors Launches New Nexon Variants: CNG Model Starts at ₹8.99 Lakh, EV at ₹13.99 Lakh

Tata Motors has expanded its popular Nexon lineup by launching two new variants – a CNG model starting at ₹8.99 lakh and an electric version priced from ₹13.99 lakh. The announcement was made on September 24, positioning the Nexon as the only vehicle in India available in four distinct powertrains: petrol, diesel, CNG, and electric.

Following the launch, Tata Motors’ stock was trading at ₹978.55 on the NSE, marking a slight increase of 0.69% as of 2:29 pm on September 24.

Vivek Srivatsa, Chief Commercial Officer of Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., highlighted the appeal of the new CNG and electric variants. “The Nexon iCNG, as India’s first turbocharged CNG vehicle, will attract customers seeking value, eco-conscious options, and uncompromised driving quality. The 45 kWh battery pack in the Nexon EV will enable hassle-free intercity travel with a real-world range of 350-370 km,” Srivatsa said.

Nexon iCNG:

The Nexon iCNG is India’s first turbocharged CNG powertrain, powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged engine that delivers 100 PS of power and 170 NM of torque, ensuring top-tier performance. The CNG variant also boasts a segment-leading 321-litre boot space, making it practical for daily use.

Nexon.ev:

The Nexon EV has been upgraded with a 45 kWh battery pack, providing faster charging at a 1.2C rating and offering a total range of 489 km (Urban + Extra Urban). The vehicle also has a real-world range of 350-370 km under Tata.ev’s C75 standards.

The company emphasized that the new battery pack addresses the primary barrier to EV adoption—high acquisition costs compared to traditional fuel vehicles. The extended range and added features make the Nexon EV an attractive choice for consumers considering electric options.
