Tata Motors has received an overwhelming response to the launch of its new electric SUV, the Harrier.ev, securing more than 10,000 bookings within just 24 hours of opening reservations. The booking window opened on July 2 across Tata.ev’s official website and dealerships nationwide, signaling strong consumer interest in the premium mid-sized electric segment.
Production Underway, Deliveries This Month
Following the record-breaking bookings, Tata has commenced series production of the Harrier.ev at its Pune facility. Initial customer deliveries are expected to begin later in July 2025. The company has assured that inventory levels and supply-chain planning are sufficient to handle the initial wave of demand, despite ongoing global challenges in the EV sector.
Powertrain, Range, and Features
The Harrier.ev is built on Tata’s advanced acti.ev+ platform and offers both rear-wheel drive (RWD) and quad-wheel drive (QWD) configurations. It comes in five variants, including a Stealth Edition, and features two battery options: 65 kWh and 75 kWh.
Certified ranges go up to 627 km (MIDC), with real-world ranges between 420 and 505 km depending on the variant. The QWD version delivers a 0–100 km/h sprint in just 6.3 seconds and generates 504 Nm of torque.
Fast charging capability includes 120 kW DC charging that can add 250 km of range in just 15 minutes. A standard 7.2 kW AC charger is also offered for home use.
The Harrier.ev is packed with premium features, including a 14.5-inch QLED touchscreen, Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), seven airbags, ventilated front seats, and a 540-degree surround camera system.
Tata’s EV Strategy and Market Ambition
The success of the Harrier.ev’s booking debut underscores Tata Motors’ stronghold in India’s EV space. The company has committed to investing ₹35,000 crore over five years to scale its EV ecosystem, including product development, battery localization, and charging infrastructure.
Tata currently commands a 33–50% market share in India’s mid-size EV segment and aims to further cement this leadership with upcoming models like the Safari EV, Sierra EV, and the futuristic Avinya series.
The Harrier.ev’s impressive launch-day numbers and rapid production ramp-up position it as a pivotal model in Tata’s EV lineup—likely to accelerate mainstream EV adoption across India’s growing urban and semi-urban markets.
