Tamil-Telugu Actor Srikanth Arrested in Cocaine Case

Tamil-Telugu actor Srikanth, also known in the Telugu industry as Sriram, has been arrested by Chennai police in connection with a cocaine trafficking case. His arrest comes as part of an expanding investigation into a drug network linked to high-profile individuals, including a former political operative.

The case surfaced when police detained a former IT cell functionary during a narcotics raid in Chennai, which led to startling revelations involving actors, socialites, and alleged frequent drug transactions. Srikanth was summoned to the Nungambakkam police station for questioning after his name was reportedly revealed during the initial investigation.

Cocaine Use Confirmed

Srikanth’s blood samples were taken during his interrogation and reportedly tested positive for cocaine. Authorities then booked him under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The investigation indicates this was not a one-off incident but part of a pattern of regular drug use.

Financial Trail Revealed

According to officials, the actor had purchased cocaine roughly 40 times, with each gram costing about ₹12,000. Investigators uncovered digital payment records—totalling around ₹4.72 lakh—made through mobile wallets like Google Pay. These transactions allegedly link Srikanth directly to narcotic suppliers.

The police have also seized relevant digital evidence and are continuing to track communication logs and payment trails. More names from the film industry are expected to be summoned for questioning as the case unfolds.

Career Overview

Srikanth began his career in Tamil television before rising to prominence with his film debut in Roja Kootam in 2002. He gained popularity in Telugu cinema with movies like Okariki Okaru and Adavari Matalaku Ardhale Verule. His recent appearances include the Tamil film Konjam Kadhal Konjam Modhal, the Telugu film Erracheera, and a web series titled Harikatha.

Industry Shock

The arrest has sent shockwaves through both the Tamil and Telugu film industries. While Srikanth has not yet issued an official statement, the police have confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and more arrests could follow. The case has reignited conversations around drug abuse in the entertainment world, prompting calls for stricter oversight and rehabilitation initiatives.
