Tamil Nadu Petrol Pump Suspended Over Fuel Sale
The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has suspended a petrol pump in Tamil Nadu after reports that fuel was being dispensed into a loose container, a practice flagged as unsafe and against operational guidelines. The action comes amid growing concerns about panic buying and improper storage of fuel by consumers.
Tamil Nadu Petrol Pump Suspended Over Fuel Sale
The ministry confirmed that the retail outlet was suspended after authorities found that petrol had been dispensed into a loose container. Fuel stations are required to follow strict safety protocols while selling petrol and diesel, and dispensing fuel in unapproved containers is considered a violation of these regulations.
Officials said the practice poses significant safety risks, including the possibility of fire, leakage, and accidental ignition, especially when petrol is stored in unsuitable containers.
Government Warns Against Fuel Storage In Loose Containers
The Petroleum Ministry also issued a public advisory urging consumers not to store petrol or diesel in loose or unsafe containers. Authorities emphasised that such storage practices can be dangerous and increase the risk of accidents.
Fuel retail outlets across the country have been directed to strictly follow established dispensing rules and ensure that safety guidelines are not violated under any circumstances.
Petrol And Diesel Supply Remains Adequate
The ministry clarified that petrol and diesel supplies remain adequate at retail outlets across India and urged consumers to avoid panic buying or unsafe hoarding of fuel. Officials said the government is closely monitoring the situation to ensure uninterrupted supply.
The suspension of the Tamil Nadu petrol pump is being seen as part of a broader effort by authorities to enforce safety norms and maintain orderly fuel distribution across the country.
