Tamil Nadu Parties Criticize Vijay for Remarks

Actor-turned-politician Vijay faced criticism from major political parties in Tamil Nadu after his remarks at a TVK (Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam) rally in Madurai. During his address, Vijay referred to Chief Minister M.K. Stalin as “uncle,” a comment that drew sharp responses from rival leaders.

DMK’s Strong Response

Senior DMK leader and Minister K.N. Nehru condemned Vijay’s statement, calling it disrespectful and an example of “low political standards.” He added that such behavior would be rejected by voters in the 2026 Assembly elections. Other DMK members argued that Vijay lacked political maturity and accused him of undermining the Dravidian movement’s principles.

BJP Calls Remarks Immature

The BJP also criticized Vijay, with leaders calling his remarks shallow and immature. They questioned his understanding of governance and said his style of politics reflected inexperience rather than vision. The party accused him of trying to gain publicity through personal attacks rather than policy-based arguments.

AIADMK Defends Its Legacy

AIADMK leaders objected to Vijay invoking party icons like C.N. Annadurai and M.G. Ramachandran during his speech. They argued that TVK’s politics were more about theatrics than substance, and insisted that the real contest in Tamil Nadu remained between AIADMK and DMK.

Left Parties Reject Overtures

Left parties too distanced themselves from Vijay, rejecting suggestions of any alliance and reaffirming their commitment to support the DMK. They described his outreach as presumptuous and said his rhetoric lacked seriousness needed for political leadership.

Rising Tensions Ahead of Polls

With state elections due in 2026, Vijay’s entry into active politics continues to unsettle established parties. His remarks at Madurai have now intensified scrutiny of his campaign style, with opponents united in questioning both his maturity and vision.
