Taliban Targets Pakistan Over ISIS
Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid has demanded that Pakistan expel ISIS fighters allegedly taking shelter within its territory. He warned that ISIS poses a major threat not just to Afghanistan but also to the wider region and accused Islamabad of ignoring the group’s presence.
Retaliation Claims After Airstrikes
Mujahid claimed that Taliban forces killed 58 Pakistani soldiers and injured over 30 in response to alleged Pakistani airstrikes near the Durand Line. He said Afghanistan will not allow any attack on its soil to go unanswered.
Pakistan’s Response
Islamabad has neither confirmed nor denied the Taliban’s claims. Pakistani authorities have in the past rejected accusations of striking Afghan territory, though they admit to targeting militants who pose threats to their security.
Rising Border Tensions
Relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan remain strained in 2025. Pakistan accuses the Afghan Taliban of supporting the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), while Kabul blames Islamabad for repeated cross-border violations. The latest exchange highlights the fragile security situation along the border and the growing risk of escalation.
