Taliban Ambush Kills 12 Pakistani Soldiers in Waziristan

At least 12 Pakistani soldiers were killed on Saturday after the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) ambushed a military convoy in South Waziristan. The attack occurred in the Badar area, near the Afghan border, according to security officials.

Details of the Attack

The convoy came under fire around 4:00 am when militants opened fire from both sides with automatic weapons. Four soldiers were also injured in the assault. The TTP claimed responsibility and said its fighters seized weapons and drones from the troops.

Militants Also Killed

Security officials reported that around 13 militants were killed during the clash that followed the ambush. Weapons and supplies were recovered in the area after the fighting subsided.

Regional Implications

The ambush highlights persistent instability in South Waziristan, a long-time stronghold of the TTP. Pakistan has accused the Afghan Taliban government of sheltering TTP militants and enabling cross-border attacks, though Kabul continues to deny the claims.
