Religious Motive Behind the Attack The attack occurred on April 22, 2025, when terrorists opened fire on a group of tourists in Pahalgam's Baisaran meadow. The assailants reportedly demanded that the victims prove their allegiance to Islam before opening fire. The Resistance Front, a Pakistan-based militant group with links to Lashkar-e-Taiba, claimed responsibility for the attack. Investigations have indicated cross-border links to the perpetrators.
