JD Vance Contacts Iran's Security Chief Mohsen Rezaei Vance reportedly sent a letter to Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council and former commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The communication sought to explore a framework for renewed negotiations, with Washington insisting that discussions address Iran's nuclear programme. Reports suggested Trump had authorised the initiative. However, the president denied directing Vance to restart peace talks, saying he had approved contact concerning medical supplies for Iranian civilians. Trump Threatens Renewed Military Strikes Against Iran The outreach comes as Trump considers another military campaign against Iran after the upcoming congressional elections. Washington wants Tehran to make nuclear concessions before receiving sanctions relief, while Iranian officials are demanding immediate economic assistance and guarantees.
