Trudeau Liberal party revolt – Bharat Pulse News

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is facing increasing pressure from within his own Liberal Party to step down by October 28, as internal dissatisfaction grows over his leadership amid a diplomatic crisis with India. Several members of the ruling party have expressed concerns that Trudeau’s leadership could lead to a severe electoral defeat in next year’s general elections. Liberal MPs Urge Trudeau to Resign At a closed-door meeting on Wednesday, 20 Liberal MPs—though none from the Cabinet—called on Trudeau to resign, citing concerns about the party's declining popularity and its impact on the upcoming elections. According to reports, Trudeau appeared unfazed, stating that the party remains “united and strong.” However, growing dissatisfaction is evident, with a letter signed by 24 Liberal lawmakers urging Trudeau to reconsider his plans for a fourth term. Liberal MP Ken McDonald has been vocal in his call for Trudeau to “start listening to the people,” as public sentiment against the Prime Minister has surged. The letter, which has not yet been made public, highlights concerns over Trudeau’s ability to lead the party to victory. Trudeau’s Declining Popularity and Election Concerns Polls reflect the mounting challenges facing Trudeau’s leadership. The Conservative Party currently holds a nearly 20-point lead over the Liberals, raising concerns that an election, if held today, could end Trudeau’s decade-long tenure as Prime Minister. This drop in support comes after the Liberals suffered unexpected losses in special elections in traditionally safe seats in Montreal and Toronto, further fueling calls for a leadership change. India-Canada Diplomatic Row Adds Pressure The timing of these internal pressures coincides with Trudeau's diplomatic row with India, following the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. The situation has further strained relations with a key international partner, adding to the Prime Minister's challenges at home. As calls for his resignation gain momentum, Trudeau faces one of the most significant internal challenges in his nine years as Prime Minister. Whether he will step down or continue to lead the Liberals into the next election remains to be seen, as the party grapples with its future.
