The Centre has asked Meta, Google and Telegram to help curb fake paper-leak claims and misinformation ahead of the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination, as authorities step up security measures for the high-stakes medical entrance test. NEET-UG Re-Exam Security Review Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan chaired a high-level meeting with officials from the Ministry of Education, the National Testing Agency and central security agencies to review preparations for the NEET-UG re-exam. The meeting focused on identifying vulnerabilities in advance and ensuring stronger preventive measures before the test. Officials stressed the need for secure, fair and transparent conduct of the examination after the earlier NEET-UG 2026 exam was cancelled following paper leak allegations. Meta Google Telegram Asked To Act In a separate meeting, representatives of Meta, Google and Telegram were asked to help tackle misinformation related to competitive exams. Officials raised concerns about fake Telegram channels, anonymous groups and misleading posts that claim to offer leaked papers or exam-related information. Authorities said some of these links redirect users to bots and fake groups designed to spread panic among students and parents. Crackdown On Fake NEET Leak Channels Intelligence inputs suggested that several suspicious channels may be linked to a limited set of phone numbers, pointing to organised activity. Pradhan directed a focused crackdown on such networks, including proactive identification, blocking and takedown of channels spreading fake claims before exams. The move is aimed at protecting students from misinformation and restoring trust in the examination process ahead of the NEET-UG re-exam.
