The Tamil Nadu government has transferred ₹5,000 each to more than 1.31 crore women beneficiaries under a state welfare initiative, with funds directly credited to bank accounts across the state. Stalins Women Cash Transfer Scheme Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin announced the financial assistance as part of a targeted support measure aimed at women heads of families and eligible beneficiaries registered in government databases. The transfer was executed through direct benefit transfer to ensure immediate availability of funds and transparency in distribution. Officials stated the initiative was designed to provide temporary financial relief and improve household consumption capacity, especially for lower and middle income families. Direct Benefit Transfer To Women Bank Accounts The government used Aadhaar linked bank accounts to credit the amount simultaneously across districts. Authorities said the digital transfer system helped avoid delays and reduced the need for physical distribution or paperwork. Beneficiaries were informed through SMS alerts after funds were deposited. Local administrative units were instructed to assist recipients facing technical issues such as inactive accounts or linkage errors. Tamil Nadu Welfare Measures For Women The state administration said the programme forms part of broader welfare policies focused on women empowerment and financial inclusion. Previous schemes have included subsidised essentials, social security pensions and targeted subsidies. Officials added that monitoring mechanisms were put in place to track delivery and resolve grievances, while district collectors were directed to review implementation status and coverage.
