Rubio Revokes Green Cards of Soleimani Kin US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has revoked the green cards of two relatives of slain Iranian commander Qassem Soleimani, with US immigration authorities taking them into custody for deportation proceedings. The move adds a fresh immigration and national security dimension to the broader US-Iran confrontation, as Washington tightens scrutiny of Iranian nationals linked to the current or former regime. Marco Rubio Green Card Revocation The two individuals identified in current reports are Hamideh Soleimani Afshar, a niece of Qassem Soleimani, and her daughter. According to US officials, their lawful permanent resident status was revoked before Immigration and Customs Enforcement detained them. The pair were reportedly living in Los Angeles before being taken into custody. Qassem Soleimani Relatives Face Deportation The case appears to be part of a wider US crackdown on Iranian nationals seen as connected to Tehran’s ruling establishment. Reports indicate that the Trump administration has also moved against other Iranian nationals tied to present or former government figures. The latest action suggests a more aggressive use of immigration enforcement alongside Washington’s hardening posture toward Iran during the ongoing regional crisis. US-Iran Tensions Drive New Action Qassem Soleimani, the former head of Iran’s Quds Force, was killed in a US drone strike in Baghdad in January 2020, and his death has remained a major fault line in US-Iran relations. The latest deportation move comes amid heightened conflict and deepening hostility between Washington and Tehran, with the administration framing such measures as part of a broader campaign against individuals associated with hostile Iranian networks.
