While U.S. is an important market, India’s large domestic demand and ability to access other markets reduces its dependency. National Interests Come First According to Tharoor, the Indian negotiating team must hold firm. He urged the public and policymakers to back them while safeguarding national interests. If an equitable agreement cannot be reached, India is ready to walk away from unfair terms. A Strong Message from Opposition Leaders Meanwhile, India’s opposition political leaders condemned the U.S.’s approach as disrespectful and harmful to India’s autonomy. They underlined the need to prioritize economic sovereignty and stand united in the face of external pressure.
