Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi is likely to visit India from July 1 to 3 for the annual India-Japan Summit, with New Delhi now expected to host the main talks. The visit is yet to be formally confirmed, but it is expected to focus on strategic, economic and regional cooperation between the two countries. However, the main talks are now likely to be held in New Delhi. Assam was hoping to use the high-profile visit to showcase investment opportunities and strengthen economic engagement with Japan. The change in venue is being seen as a setback for the state, though official details of the final itinerary are still awaited. India Japan Talks To Focus On Strategic Ties The summit is expected to cover key areas such as supply chain resilience, energy security, critical minerals, infrastructure development and regional security. Japan has been a major partner in India’s development projects, including transport and connectivity initiatives. The visit will also come amid growing focus on Indo-Pacific stability and China’s assertive posture in the region. Both India and Japan are expected to use the summit to deepen cooperation while expanding economic and security coordination.
