₹2,000 Notes Worth ₹6,181 Cr Still in Circulation

Despite the Reserve Bank of India withdrawing ₹2,000 banknotes from general circulation on May 19, 2023, a significant amount still remains with the public. As of May 31, 2025, around ₹6,181 crore worth of these notes—roughly 1.76% of the original ₹3.56 lakh crore issued—are yet to be returned.
