Puducherry heavy rains – Bharat Pulse News

Authorities in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry have ordered the closure of schools and colleges as heavy rainfall continues to lash the regions. The decision comes in light of weather forecasts predicting sustained downpours and potential disruptions to normal life. Heavy Rainfall Disrupts Normalcy Tamil Nadu has been experiencing relentless rains due to a low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for several districts, including Chennai, Cuddalore, and Nagapattinam, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall. Puducherry, too, has been affected, with waterlogging reported in many low-lying areas. The regional administrations have taken proactive measures to ensure the safety of students and minimize the impact on daily activities. The announcement to close schools and colleges for the next few days has been met with relief by parents and educators, as travel conditions remain hazardous. Precautions and Advisory Authorities have urged residents to remain indoors unless necessary and avoid waterlogged roads and flooded areas. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea due to rough conditions. Emergency services have been put on high alert, and public helplines have been established to assist those in need. In Chennai, the civic body has intensified its efforts to drain water from inundated streets, while power supply in certain areas has been temporarily disconnected as a precautionary measure. IMD's Forecast The IMD has predicted that the rainfall will persist over the next 48 hours, with isolated areas receiving extremely heavy rainfall. The weather office has also warned of possible thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds in coastal areas. The government has assured citizens that all necessary steps are being taken to mitigate the effects of the heavy rainfall and ensure the safety of the public. Residents are advised to stay updated on weather alerts and follow official instructions during this period.
