The Congress party has alleged that the sudden resignation of former Prasar Bharati chairman Navneet Kumar Sehgal raises serious questions about corruption and political management at the top levels of government. Sehgal, a retired Indian Administrative Service officer, stepped down from his post earlier this month, about a year before his term was due to end. The Congress claims that instead of facing scrutiny, Sehgal was given a new, high-profile position, a pattern it calls “political musical chairs.” The party has also linked the situation with speculation that Sehgal might be moved to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) to replace an official recently under scrutiny, a claim that has not been confirmed by the government.
