The United Arab Emirates has ordered legal action against 35 people, including 19 Indian nationals, for allegedly sharing misleading and fabricated social media content during the ongoing regional conflict linked to the Iran war. The case has drawn attention to how Gulf authorities are responding to online misinformation, especially content created or altered using artificial intelligence. UAE Action Against 19 Indians Over Misleading Posts According to the reported action, the UAE authorities moved against a total of 35 individuals accused of publishing or circulating content that was considered false, misleading or harmful to public order. Among them were 19 Indians. The material was linked to the ongoing conflict environment in the region and was seen as capable of spreading panic or confusion at a sensitive time. The accused are reported to have been referred for fast-track legal proceedings under UAE law. AI Generated Clips Under Official Scrutiny Authorities said some of the flagged content included fabricated or manipulated video clips created using AI tools. Reports also indicated that the crackdown covered more than one category of online content, including edited videos, misleading war-related visuals and posts seen as glorifying aggression or spreading hostile narratives. The action reflects growing concern in Gulf countries over how AI-generated material can rapidly amplify false claims during wartime or regional crises. Iran War Misinformation Triggers UAE Crackdown The development comes as Gulf states remain on high alert due to the wider impact of the Iran conflict on regional security, transport and public sentiment. In such a climate, misinformation can quickly affect civilian confidence and create unnecessary alarm. The UAE has increasingly taken a strict approach to digital content that it believes threatens public stability, and this latest case signals that online posts tied to conflict narratives are being monitored closely.
