Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has announced that NEET UG will be conducted in a computer-based test format from next year, following the paper leak controversy that forced the cancellation of the 2026 medical entrance examination. NEET UG Computer-Based Exam From Next Year Pradhan said the government has decided to move NEET UG to a fully computer-based system to strengthen examination security and reduce the risk of paper leaks. The decision marks a major change for one of India’s largest entrance tests, which has traditionally been held in pen-and-paper mode. The minister said the government has a zero-tolerance approach towards examination malpractice and wants to ensure that students do not suffer because of organised cheating or systemic gaps. NEET UG 2026 Re-Exam On June 21 The National Testing Agency will conduct the NEET UG 2026 re-examination on June 21 after the earlier test was cancelled over the paper leak row. Admit cards for the re-exam are expected to be issued by June 14. The cancellation had created uncertainty for lakhs of medical aspirants across the country. The Centre has said the re-exam is being held to protect fairness and maintain confidence in the entrance process. NEET Paper Leak Probe Continues The NEET UG paper leak case has triggered wider scrutiny of exam security and the role of the National Testing Agency. Authorities are examining how the leak occurred and whether insiders were involved in the breach. The shift to computer-based testing is expected to become a key reform in India’s medical entrance system. However, its success will depend on secure digital infrastructure, strong monitoring, and smooth access for students across urban and rural centres.
