The Union Home Ministry has designated 23 Pakistan-based individuals linked to Jaish-e-Mohammad, Lashkar-e-Taiba and allied terror networks as terrorists under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. 23 Pakistan-Based Operatives Named Under UAPA The Ministry of Home Affairs issued a series of gazette notifications adding the names of the 23 individuals to the Fourth Schedule of the UAPA. The action was taken under Section 35 of the Act, which empowers the central government to designate individuals as terrorists if they are believed to be involved in terrorism. The listed individuals include operatives connected to recruitment, training, terror financing, infiltration support and logistics for banned organisations operating from Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. JeM And LeT Networks Face Action Among those named is Masood Ilyas Kashmiri, described by the government as a senior Jaish-e-Mohammad functionary based in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He has been accused of recruiting youth, providing terror training and facilitating infiltration into India. Several others have been linked to Jaish-e-Mohammad and Lashkar-e-Taiba networks involved in attacks, arms movement, cross-border infiltration and radicalisation. Officials said the designations are aimed at targeting not only banned organisations but also the individuals who help sustain their operational networks. UAPA Terror Designation Enables Asset Action The designation allows investigative agencies, including the National Investigation Agency, to take action against finances, assets and networks connected to the listed individuals. According to official information, 17 of the newly designated individuals are Pakistani nationals and six are Indian nationals, though all are currently operating from Pakistan or Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The government said the move is part of its wider effort to dismantle terror infrastructure directed against India.
