Suryakumar Yadav On Olympic Gold Goal Speaking after the World Cup triumph, Suryakumar said the squad now wants to aim for cricket’s return to the Olympics in Los Angeles in 2028. Cricket will be played in the T20 format at LA28, giving leading international teams a new global target beyond ICC tournaments. His statement reflected how quickly attention has shifted from India’s World Cup celebrations to the next major milestone in the format. India T20 World Cup Victory Boosts Ambition India’s latest title win has strengthened confidence around the current group and its ability to compete across major tournaments. The side impressed throughout the 2026 T20 World Cup and finished with a commanding victory in the final. The success also underlined Suryakumar’s growing role as captain in the shortest format, with the team maintaining an aggressive and consistent approach through the tournament. LA28 Cricket Qualification Still Awaited While the Olympic target is now clear, the qualification pathway for the men’s cricket event at LA28 has not been fully finalised. What is confirmed is that six teams will compete in the men’s and women’s T20 events. That means major cricket nations will be watching the selection process closely over the next two years. For India, however, the message from the captain was clear: the World Cup may be won, but the next chase has already begun.
