nuclear submarine – Bharat Pulse News

In a significant development, North Korea has unveiled its first nuclear-powered submarine, marking a major advancement in its naval capabilities. State media released images of leader Kim Jong Un inspecting the vessel, described as a "nuclear-powered strategic guided missile submarine." This move underscores North Korea's commitment to enhancing its military strength despite international sanctions and diplomatic pressures. Advancements in North Korea's Naval Capabilities The newly revealed submarine is estimated to be a 6,000 to 7,000-ton-class vessel, capable of carrying approximately ten missiles. This development aligns with Kim Jong Un's 2021 pledge to bolster the nation's defense by introducing sophisticated weaponry, including nuclear-powered submarines and hypersonic missiles. The submarine's ability to launch nuclear-capable missiles represents a significant shift in the regional security landscape, posing new challenges for neighboring countries and the United States. Potential External Assistance and Strategic Implications Analysts are closely examining the rapid progress of North Korea's submarine program, with some suggesting possible external assistance. Given the technical complexities and resource demands of developing nuclear-powered submarines, there is speculation that North Korea may have received technological support, potentially from external sources, in exchange for military aid in other conflicts. The introduction of such a submarine enhances North Korea's second-strike capability, complicating efforts to neutralize its nuclear arsenal and altering the strategic balance in the region. Regional Responses and Future Outlook The unveiling of the submarine has elicited varied responses from the international community. U.S. officials have acknowledged the development but have refrained from detailed comments, reiterating their commitment to the denuclearization of North Korea. South Korean defense analysts express concern over the potential threats posed by the submarine, emphasizing the need for enhanced surveillance and defensive measures. As North Korea continues to advance its military capabilities, regional tensions are likely to rise, prompting calls for renewed diplomatic efforts to address the evolving security dynamics.
