Focus Areas for Development The Rising North East Investors Summit aims to promote holistic development in sectors critical to the region’s growth: Infrastructure and Connectivity: Investments will strengthen road, rail, air, and digital infrastructure to improve regional and national integration. Tourism and Hospitality: Focus on promoting eco-tourism, cultural tourism, and wellness tourism to position the region as a global destination. Agro-Food Processing: Emphasizing the Northeast's agricultural richness to develop food processing industries and enhance value chains. Information Technology and Education: Expanding digital literacy, tech hubs, and skill training centers for youth empowerment. Energy and Semiconductors: Exploring clean energy and semiconductor manufacturing as future economic drivers. Transforming the Northeast’s Image PM Modi noted that the Northeast has transformed from a region historically associated with insurgency and blockades to one recognized for business opportunities and peace. Over 10,000 youths have surrendered arms in the last decade, reflecting the success of the government’s efforts to restore normalcy and growth. He added that the increase in tourist footfall has opened up new employment avenues in homestays, tour guiding, and hospitality. The region, he said, is now ideal for destination weddings, retreats, and cultural immersion.
