Nirmala Sitharaman Canada US visit

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is on a nine-day official visit to Canada and the United States from August 25 to September 2, with economic cooperation, investment, critical minerals, artificial intelligence and G20 financial discussions high on the agenda. Sitharaman Begins Canada-US Economic Outreach Sitharaman arrived in Toronto for the first leg of the visit, where she is scheduled to participate in the inaugural India-Canada Economic and Financial Dialogue with Canadian Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne. The talks will cover macroeconomic developments, financial-sector cooperation, bilateral investment and shared international economic priorities. India and Canada are also exploring cooperation in energy, critical minerals, technology, innovation and resilient supply chains while continuing discussions towards a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement. India-Canada Investment Talks Focus on AI, Minerals Sitharaman will participate in investment and business roundtables involving senior executives from sectors including energy, artificial intelligence, financial services and critical minerals. She is also expected to hold individual meetings with Canadian business leaders to discuss India’s growth outlook, investment opportunities and greater participation by Canadian companies in the Indian economy, including opportunities linked to GIFT City. Sitharaman to Lead India at G20 Finance Meeting The US leg of the visit begins on August 28 and will include stops in Chicago, Asheville and New York. In Chicago, Sitharaman will meet investors and corporate executives and visit the University of Chicago’s Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation. She will then lead India’s delegation at the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors meeting in Asheville on August 31 and September 1. In New York, Sitharaman will hold investor and financial-sector meetings and participate in a bell-ringing ceremony at Nasdaq.
