The National Investigation Agency has named Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba founder Hafiz Saeed in a supplementary chargesheet in the Pahalgam terror attack case. The case relates to the April 22, 2025 attack in Jammu and Kashmir, in which 26 civilians were killed. NIA Chargesheet Names Hafiz Saeed The NIA filed the supplementary chargesheet before a special court in Jammu, formally naming Hafiz Saeed as an accused in the Pahalgam attack case. Investigators have charged him in his individual capacity and as the founder of the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba. The agency has also linked the conspiracy to The Resistance Front, which is considered a proxy of LeT. The chargesheet alleges that Saeed was part of a cross-border conspiracy behind the attack. Investigators have relied on evidence collected through field investigation, digital records and other material gathered during the probe. Pahalgam Terror Attack Investigation The attack took place in Baisaran Valley near Pahalgam, where terrorists opened fire on civilians and tourists. The incident led to a major security response across Jammu and Kashmir and intensified scrutiny of Pakistan-based terror networks. The NIA has been investigating the wider conspiracy, including the role of handlers, support networks and terror groups allegedly involved in planning and executing the attack. LeT TRF Cross Border Conspiracy The agency has invoked provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act. Saeed has also been accused of waging war against India and conspiring from across the border. The case has added fresh focus on the role of Lashkar-e-Taiba and The Resistance Front in terror activities targeting civilians in Jammu and Kashmir.
