Former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has hailed the visit of India’s External Affairs Minister, S Jaishankar, to Islamabad for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) conclave, describing it as a potential "new beginning" for strained India-Pakistan relations. Sharif urged both nations to "bury the past" and work towards a peaceful and prosperous future, emphasizing the need for good neighborly relations. Jaishankar's Visit: A Sign of Progress? Jaishankar's visit to Pakistan marks the first by an Indian foreign minister in nine years. Although the focus of Jaishankar’s visit was multilateral, Sharif’s comments reflect the hope among some sections of the Pakistani establishment that this could serve as an "ice-breaker" in long-standing tensions.
